Join one of Australia's most important energy projects - the Port Kembla Energy Terminal - and play an active role in maintaining world-class health, safety, environment and quality standards across this state-of-the-art facility. This is a hands-on position, ideal for an experienced HSEQ professional who enjoys being out on site, supporting operations, and driving safe work practices every day.

About the Project

The Port Kembla Energy Terminal will strengthen Australia's energy security and supply as the nation's first LNG import terminal. You'll work as part of an experienced, globally supported operations team committed to safe, compliant and efficient operations.

About the Role

As the HSEQ Officer, you'll support safety, environmental and quality systems and practices on site. Reporting to the Terminal Management team, you'll assist with risk management, audits, training and incident prevention initiatives to ensure the facility operates to the highest standards of safety and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure all contractors, staff and visitors are inducted and comply with PPE and HSEQ requirements.
  • Maintain accurate HSEQ records and report any potential or actual non-compliance to Terminal Management.
  • Support the implementation of HSEQ policies, ensuring compliance with legislation and company procedures.
  • Propose and implement strategies to prevent safety and environmental incidents in line with terminal management direction.
  • Plan and perform site safety drills, training sessions and toolbox meetings.
  • Assist in planning and executing internal audits under ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 systems.
  • Oversee hazardous waste handling and ensure correct segregation in line with the management team directions.

Skills and Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years' HSEQ experience in Oil & Gas, energy or heavy industrial environments.
  • Knowledge of HSE legislation, ISO management systems, and industry best practice.
  • Training or certification in high-risk work (confined space, working at height, hot works, lifting).
  • Strong communication and observational skills, with a proactive, hands-on approach.
  • Relevant qualification in WHS, Environmental Science, or other related discipline.
