You will be responsible for developing and managing machine learning models that support key business functions such as credit risk, fraud detection, and customer segmentation. The role also drives innovation by identifying new AI opportunities, collaborating with business and IT teams to integrate models into platforms, and ensuring ongoing model performance and alignment with business goals.

Roles and responsibilities

Machine Learning & AI

  • Develop predictive models (e.g. credit risk, fraud detection, customer segmentation) using machine learning and AI techniques.
  • Lead and pioneer machine learning and AI opportunities across the business by identifying high-impact use cases and championing data-driven innovation.
  • Use Python, Databricks, and cloud-based tools to build scalable and reproducible ML pipelines.

Model Ownership & Management

  • Own the end-to-end lifecycle of models, from development through to deployment and monitoring.
  • Validate model accuracy and ensure robustness using appropriate statistical methods.
  • Monitor model performance over time and retrain as needed to maintain relevance and accuracy.
  • Maintain clear documentation for all models, including assumptions, data inputs, and business usage.

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Partner with business units to understand data needs and frame analytical problems into ML solutions.
  • Communicate model insights and implications clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with the IT team to embed ML and AI models into business platforms and ensure seamless integration with existing systems and workflows.

How to succeed

You have experience deploying AI and ML models effectively coupled with a strong Business Partnering skill set, able to promote AI adoption and help foster a culture that embraces its usage.

We are looking for someone with the following:

  • 4+ years of experience in a similar role preferred
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Experience in a fintech or asset finance with strong understanding of the financial services industry and lending.
  • Familiarity with cloud services such as Azure, AWS and Databricks essential.
  • Extensive knowledge around ML and AI modelling and deployment
  • Advanced skills in Python, R, SQL, and Databricks.
  • Experience with machine learning libraries (e.g. scikit-learn, XGBoost, MLflow).
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g. Azure, AWS) for model deployment and data processing.
  • Experience with prompt engineering, fine-tuning, and integrating LLM-based solutions into business workflows.
  • Familiar with MLOps practices, model versioning, and automation using tools like MLflow or Azure Machine Learning.
  • Must have Australian working rights (citizen or PR)
