Family Coach – Early Years

At Brotherhood of St. Laurence (BSL), we are seeking a passionate Family Coach to join our dedicated Early Years, Children and Families team.

Location: Sunshine (Brimbank Local Government Area)

Job Type: Maximum Term Part-Time - 12 Month Contract 

Salary: $90, $97,875.15 per annum, based on skills and experience, plus 12% superannuation (pro-rata for part-time employment)

About the role:

Join us in shaping the future of early childhood development.

As a Family Coach, you will partner with families in Sunshine and surrounding areas to support their aspirations, strengthen their capacity, and connect them with resources and services. Using a strength-based, person-centred approach, you will help families navigate the early years ecosystem, build confidence, and foster relationships that promote child development and family wellbeing

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing one-on-one coaching to parents to help them set and achieve goals
  • Linking families with community resources and services
  • Supporting families to engage confidently with early childhood education, health and social services
  • Facilitating small groups and playgroups to encourage social connections and shared learning
  • Building strong relationships with local community groups and service providers

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Tertiary qualification in Community Development, Social Work, Early Childhood Development or a related field
  • Experience working with families from diverse backgrounds, including refugee and migrant communities
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage effectively with families, communities, and service providers
  • Experience facilitating group programs, workshops, or play-based learning activities
  • Commitment to child safety, equity, inclusion, and cultural safety
