Background of the Marcellin Old Collegians Football Club
Founded in 1968, the Marcellin Old Collegians Football Club has proudly been affiliated with the Victorian Amateur Football Association (VAFA) since 1971. Our club is built on a strong culture of development, mateship and community, focusing not only on the growth of our players on the field but also on their success off it. We are committed to providing every person who walks through our doors with the tools, support and opportunities they need to thrive both in football and in life.
Across our 57 year history, we have enjoyed a rich tradition of success at every level, including Senior Men's and Women's, Reserves, Under 19s and Thirds. We are also proud to be one of only three clubs in VAFA history to have won Premier Division premierships in both the Men's and Women's competitions, which is a testament to our high-performance culture, commitment to excellence, and strong values of inclusivity and diversity.
Our close connection with the Marcellin Bald Eagles, who field Over 35s and Over 45s teams in the AFL Masters Competition, further strengthens our community. Established in 2001, the Baldies provide a welcoming pathway for past players to continue enjoying their football while also maintaining a proud record of on-field success.
In recent years, we've invested heavily in developing and enhancing our football program to position the club for long-term success. Key initiatives include:
- Strengthening partnerships with Marcellin College, Manningham Council, and Women's feeder programs.
- Appointing a dedicated Football Director to oversee our football program.
- Building a comprehensive pathway for player recruitment, growth, and career opportunities.
- Introducing an annual Pride Round to celebrate inclusivity, diversity and community within our club.
- Expanding our Women's program through structured strategic planning.
- Establishing a Platinum Coterie Group to invest in projects and initiatives that drive the club forward.
With a proud history, a strong community and a bold vision for the future, the Marcellin Old Collegians Football Club continues to be a place where players, families and supporters can come together to achieve success both on and off the field.
