Brisbane, Queensland, Australia Clean Energy Finance Corporation Full time $120,000 - $180,000 per year

The CEFC is Australia's specialist climate investor, helping cut emissions in the race towards net zero by 2050. We invest in the latest technologies to generate, store, manage and transmit clean energy.

About the opportunity

Are you ready to help shape Australia's energy future? Join the CEFC as a Senior Associate, Portfolio Management (RTN) and play a key role in delivering the Australian Government's Rewiring the Nation (RTN) program, a transformative initiative to decarbonise the electricity sector and build a resilient, clean energy grid.

As a Senior Associate, you'll support the management of investments in nationally significant energy infrastructure projects across Australia. You'll work across the capital structure with exposure including corporate loans, project finance and hybrids, and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful delivery and performance. This is an opportunity to contribute to the future of clean energy investment in Australia.

We're looking for thoughtful, driven professionals who care about sustainability and want to make a real impact. If this opportunity feels like a good fit, we'd love to hear from you, even if your experience looks a little different from what's listed.

The role you'll play

As the Senior Associate, Portfolio Management - RTN, you'll be responsible for:

  • Managing the transition of investment transactions from the RTN Investment team to Portfolio Management, ensuring strong knowledge transfer and understanding of key project risks and stakeholders.
  • Monitoring and managing investments through construction and operations, including performance against financial, sustainability, and social licence targets.
  • Liaising with internal teams (Investment, Technical, Regulatory, Legal, Finance, Risk, Sustainability, Research) and external stakeholders (project sponsors, financiers, advisers) to drive outcomes.
  • Undertaking financial and risk analysis, including reviewing financial models, statements, cashflows, and forecasts.
  • Supporting detailed reviews and reporting to CEFC Management, executive committees, and the Board, with a focus on asset performance, risk, return, and sustainability outcomes.
  • Managing and negotiating counterparty requests, ensuring timely approvals and effective stakeholder engagement.
  • Collaborating with RTN Investment, Sustainability, and Research teams and counterparties to share knowledge, drive decarbonisation outcomes, and oversee climate and sustainability reporting.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A solid understanding of bank loan, project finance and/or equity investment transactions, with a minimum of 5 years' experience in project finance, asset management, banking, equity investment or credit risk.
  • Strong commercial acumen and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Experience in energy or infrastructure sectors is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyse complex transactions, financial models, and investment documentation.
  • Proven relationship-building and negotiation skills.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Business, Finance, Commerce, Engineering, or Law.
  • Passion for sustainability, decarbonisation, and innovative financing solutions.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to work effectively under pressure.
