Operations Officer

A unique opportunity for an experienced and passionate Operations Officer with an enforcement, customer service and event background to join our team at Queen Victoria Market - Melbourne's premier shopping, food, and event destination.

About the role

We are looking for a new team member who is customer focused and who has an operational and event background including demonstrated experience and abilities in influencing positive changes to meet business goals with a can-do approach to join our team. This is a Fixed-Term of 6 months, and this role will be based on a two-week cycle roster and will include weekend work Saturdays & Sundays (every second weekend).

You will be responsible for:

  • Education, awareness and enforcement of Market rules.
  • Driving positive change throughout the Market in all aspects of Market Operations.
  • Conducting inspections and creating a safe and clean work environment for staff, traders and members of the public.
  • Providing Customer Service and dealing with any complaints received from traders and/or customers.
  • Accurately recording incidents and remedial action in QVM's CRM system (Salesforce).
  • Emergency response including proving First Aid, acting as a Warden as required, and in conjunction with Chief Fire Warden help coordinate response to any emergency.
  • Assist in the management of the Night Market series.

What are we looking for?

  • Previous experience in an operational/enforcement/event role with a customer focus.
  • A high level of initiative and independence and the ability to establish own priorities and work without supervision.
  • Experience working with culturally diverse individuals and/or groups.
  • Strong administration skills, including experience using the Microsoft Office suite (specifically Outlook, Word, Excel, and SharePoint).
  • Conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with varied cultural groups.
  • Current Victorian Drivers Licence.
  • Forklift Licence.
