Join The Little Gourmet team, proudly partnered with Reggio Emilia Early Learning Centres, where we're passionate about creating healthy, nutritious, and appealing meals for young learners.

We're growing and currently seeking:

• 1 x Full-Time Chef
• 2 x Casual Kitchen Hands

Both roles offer daytime hours only (Monday to Friday) – perfect for those seeking work-life balance and a positive, family-friendly environment.

Chef – Full-Time

We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Cook/Chef who can approach the role in a calm and systematic manner, preparing high-quality, nutritious, and child-friendly meals with care and creativity.

You'll work closely with centre teams to plan menus, maintain stock, and ensure our little learners enjoy wholesome meals every day.

Key Responsibilities:

• Preparation and cooking of daily meals and snacks for children
• Menu planning in line with nutritional guidelines
• Shopping, ordering, and monitoring stock levels
• Maintaining kitchen hygiene, food safety, and stock rotation
• Catering for special events and dietary requirements
• Managing food budgets effectively
• Collaborating with educators and management to ensure smooth service

Requirements:

• Food Safety & Hygiene Certificate
• Nutrition and Menu Planning for Children Certificate
• Certificate III in Commercial Cookery
• Current Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain)
• First Aid, Asthma & Anaphylaxis Management Certificates (or willingness to obtain)
• Current driver's licence and access to a car
• Excellent communication, time management, and organisational skills
• Previous early childhood experience (highly regarded but not essential)

Kitchen Hand – Casual (x2 positions)

We're also seeking enthusiastic and reliable Kitchen Hands to support our Chef in delivering nutritious meals and maintaining a smooth-running kitchen.

This role is perfect for someone with a positive attitude, great teamwork skills, and attention to detail — and best of all, no weekends or late nights

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with food preparation and plating
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in the kitchen
• Support with dishwashing, packing, and delivery to rooms
• Assist with stock rotation and organisation
• Provide general kitchen and cleaning support

Requirements:

• Food Safety & Hygiene awareness
• Ability to work efficiently in a busy environment
• Team player with a can-do attitude
• Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain)
• Previous experience in hospitality or childcare kitchens (advantageous)

We are looking for a cook who is able to approach the role in a calm and systematic manner in order to deliver food which is of high quality & taste, healthy and attractive to children.

You must be energetic, an excellent communicator, enjoy working in a team and demonstrate a high level of customer service.

The cook is responsible for meal preparation and cooking, shopping, ordering, monitoring stock levels, stock rotation, kitchen hygiene, menu planning, working within budget, catering for special events and delivery of meals to centres.

The candidate must have:

• Food Safety & Hygiene Certificate
• Nutrition and Menu Planning for Children Certificate
• Certificate III in Commercial Cookery
• A Working with Children Check clearance number (or willingness to obtain)
• Experience preparing creative and nutritious meals for large groups is essential as well as excellent time management and organisational skills.
• High level oral and written communication skills
• Proven ability to meet deadlines
• Current driver's licence and a car
• First Aid, Asthma & Anaphylaxis Management Certificates (or willingness to obtain)
• Previous experience in early childhood is not essential, but will be highly regarded
