About Us

AZ Creative Studio is a Melbourne-based boutique post-production and creative studio, specialising in high-end colour grading, finishing, and technical supervision for film, television, and streaming platforms.

We work with leading production companies and international clients to deliver world-class visual storytelling and cinematic-quality post-production services.

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Technical Director (Post Production & Colour) to lead our technical and creative operations.

You will oversee colour grading, workflow design, and post-production management, ensuring the studio's creative vision is supported by a robust and modern technical foundation.

This role requires both creative flair and deep technical expertise, with a focus on HDR/SDR mastering, ACES colour management, and international delivery standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced colour grading using DaVinci Resolve.
  • Design and maintain ACES, HDR, and SDR pipelines for efficient colour-managed workflows.

  • Oversee mastering and delivery for cinema, streaming, and broadcast platforms, including IMF creation, Dolby Vision HDR, and SDR deliverables.
  • Maintain and calibrate all grading displays, technical systems, and colour management tools.
  • Perform detailed quality control (QC) and ensure deliverables meet industry standards.
  • Collaborate with directors, DOPs, editors, and VFX teams to ensure creative intent is preserved.
  • Train and mentor junior staff, developing internal colour workflows and best practices.
  • Lead workflow automation, software development integration, and process optimisation.
  • Maintain strong communication with international clients and production partners.

Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 5 years' professional experience in colour grading or post-production.
  • Expert in DaVinci Resolve, with working knowledge of Baselight and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • In-depth understanding of colour science, HDR/SDR workflows, and ACES.
  • Proven experience in look development, LUT creation, and cross-platform matching.
  • Professional knowledge in mastering and deliverables for cinema, digital platforms, and broadcast, including IMF, Dolby Vision HDR, and SDR.
  • Familiarity with software development, Python scripting, or workflow automation tools.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and client management skills.
  • Experience working with VFX-heavy projects and multi-location post-production teams.
  • Desirable:
Membership in Colourist Society International (CSI) or Australian Screen Editors (ASE), and experience in 3D rendering, virtual production, or emerging imaging technologies.
