Your role:
We are seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Technical Manager – Protective Coatings to lead our dynamic team of scientists and technical specialists. In this pivotal role, you'll translate the Protective Coatings business strategy into actionable R&D priorities that drive innovation, quality, and sustainability across our premium product range.
As part of the Protective Coatings Leadership Team, you will play an integral role in shaping and executing business strategy. Partnering closely with the Technology Director, you'll accelerate innovation, strengthen core technologies, and champion initiatives that ensure regulatory compliance and sustainability leadership.
This is an exciting opportunity for a commercially minded leader who thrives in a fast-paced industrial R&D environment and is passionate about mentoring high-performing teams. You'll have the autonomy to drive innovation from concept to commercialization, fostering collaboration across Marketing, Operations, and Supply Chain to deliver meaningful outcomes for customers and the business.

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and execution of the Protective Coatings R&D strategy and innovation roadmap.
- Drive the successful delivery of new product development, re-engineering, and sustainability initiatives aligned with business goals.
- Strengthen the team's technical and project management capability, ensuring effective prioritisation and timely execution of projects.
- Build, coach, and develop a high-performing team, fostering a culture of safety, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Partner cross-functionally with Marketing, Operations, and Supply Chain to ensure new products meet performance, quality, and regulatory standards.

Skills & Experience
- Demonstrated success leading R&D or technical teams within protective coatings or a related industrial manufacturing environment.
- Proven experience in product development, innovation management, and commercialization of technology solutions.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, influence, and develop diverse teams.
- Commercially focused, with a track record of delivering results and driving operational and strategic outcomes.
- Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific discipline (postgraduate qualifications highly regarded).
