The role

As the Payroll and Accounts Officer, you'll play a key role in managing payroll for 100+ employees and supporting our finance operations. You'll ensure compliance with legislation, maintain accurate records, and provide exceptional support to our people.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Processing fortnightly payroll accurately and on time.
  • Processing salary packaging for participating employees.
  • Maintaining payroll records, including timesheets, leave balances, and deductions.
  • Ensuring compliance with tax, superannuation, and payroll obligations.
  • Processing accounts payable invoices and fortnightly payment runs.
  • Processing monthly and ad-hoc accounts receivable invoices
  • Responding to Customer and Supplier enquiries
  • Reconciling AP and AR ledgers.
  • Managing monthly Credit Card statement distribution and reconciliations
  • Preparing weekly bank reconciliations and monitor cash flow.
  • Managing the finance and payroll inboxes, ensuring timely responses and organise correspondence.
  • Preparing payroll and financial reports for management and statutory bodies.
  • Responding to payroll queries and maintain confidentiality at all times.

About You

To be successful, you will demonstrate the following skills and experience:

  • Certificate or Diploma in Accounting, Finance, or similar (or equivalent experience).
  • Proven experience in payroll and accounts administration (minimum 2 years).
  • Strong knowledge of payroll legislation and accounting principles.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and MS Excel intermediate level.
  • Excellent attention to detail and time management skills.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
  • Desirable: Experience with CanPay and/or Sage.

This position reports to the UQHC Director of Finance & IT.
