Senior Project Officer - Design and Asset Management

  • Location Parramatta CBD with access to hybrid work arrangements
  • Full time ongoing opportunity (35 hours per week)

Your role

Lead the Aboriginal Housing Office (AHO)'s new supply program by managing all pre-construction activities for multi-unit housing developments. You will be responsible for ensuring projects are delivered on time, meet design and compliance standards, and align with program targets. You will oversee asset planning, including Strategic Asset Management Plans (SAMPs), Asset Management Plans (AMPs), and reporting to support funding bids and long-term housing delivery

What you'll do

  • Coordinate architectural procurement and design consultant contracts for new supply projects.
  • Oversee design development from concept to detailed design, embedding cultural appropriateness, sustainability, and compliance.
  • Drive planning approvals, liaising with councils and authorities to achieve timely outcomes.
  • Provide quality assurance and technical oversight to ensure smooth transition to construction.
  • Lead asset planning and reporting, including SAMPs/AMPs and compliance with INSW and NSW Treasury frameworks.
  • Maintain and report on the shovel-ready project pipeline.
  • Build strong stakeholder relationships with internal teams, Aboriginal Community Housing Providers, consultants, and government agencies.

What we're looking for

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline such as asset management, property, or project management or equivalent professional experience.
  • Demonstrated understanding of statutory planning frameworks and housing design standards.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, including working with Aboriginal communities and statutory authorities.
  • Skilled in interpreting housing demand data and translating this into design briefs and project prioritisation decisions
  • Confident in managing consultant performance, design risks, and pre-construction compliance frameworks under tight program deadlines.
  • Proven ability to operate with high autonomy in delivering design packages to approval stage and managing asset planning submissions.
  • Qualifications in Architecture, Design, Town Planning, Property or Asset Management are highly regarded.
