We are currently seeking an experienced Lead Product Architect to guide the evolution of a high-profile Federal Government online services platform. This is an EL2-equivalent leadership role where you will define the product vision, ensure technical feasibility, and align architecture with business priorities.

The Opportunity

You will review the current platform design and lead the next architecture phase to ensure scalability, interoperability, and customer-focused outcomes. This role requires strong engagement across business and technical stakeholders, translating organisational strategy into clear, actionable architecture that development teams can execute.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and document the product vision for the agency's online systems.
  • Ensure the product vision is technically feasible, aligned with architectural principles, and embedded into delivery.
  • Continuously evolve the product strategy based on emerging business needs, technologies, and user experience improvements.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership, architects, designers, and development teams.
  • Develop architectural artefacts including decision-making principles, current state, and future state models.
  • Provide architectural assurance for the online services platform and contribute to digital strategy.
  • Create models and diagrams across business, information, application, and infrastructure layers.

Essential Criteria

  • Extensive architectural experience within Government environments.
  • Strong understanding of the Information Security Manual (ISM) and Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF).

Desirable

  • Familiarity with enterprise architecture frameworks (e.g., TOGAF).
  • Experience in Agile delivery environments (e.g., SAFe).
  • Exposure to Microsoft Azure cloud environments.

Role Details

  • Start Date: September 2025
  • Contract: Until 30 June 2026 (with potential extensions)
  • Hours: Up to 40 hours per week
  • Clearance: Must hold or be able to obtain Baseline Security Clearance
