Our reputation is built on reliability and exceptional service, and we are looking for a dedicated and skilled Inventory Controller/Dispatch Manager to be the linchpin of our delivery operations.
The Opportunity: We are seeking an experienced and proactive Inventory Controller/Dispatch Manager. This role is critical to ensuring our landscape materials are delivered accurately and on schedule. The ideal candidate will be an operational expert who can manage a diverse fleet, lead a team with a positive attitude, and use technology to drive efficiency. A key requirement for this role is proficiency with modern inventory and dispatch software, with a strong preference for candidates who have direct, hands-on experience with Cin7.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Management: Oversee the day-to-day dispatch and delivery, ensuring on-time and in-full delivery to our customers. Maintain up-to-date dispatch schedules.Provide dispatch with orders on time and with the correct information. Order Transport as required. Assist warehousing and or dispatch as required. Check payment has been received prior to dispatch.
Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor a team of drivers and dispatch coordinators, managing schedules, conducting performance reviews, and ensuring compliance with safety and traffic regulations.
Fleet & Route Optimisation: Plan and schedule the most efficient delivery routes considering vehicle capacity, customer locations, and delivery urgency. Help perform deliveries as required including packing, loading & driving of vehicles (trucks/utes).
System Management (Cin7): Effectively manage all dispatch functions within our core system, with a strong focus on Cin7. This includes:
Processing and tracking customer orders from our sales platform through to delivery.
- Optimising stock allocation and coordinating with the yard team for order picking and loading.
Generating delivery manifests and dispatch notes accurately from Cin7.
Using Cin7's data and reporting tools to monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Maintain price lists with management approval.
- Utilise inventory management software systems to track and manage inventory movements.
- Ensure compliance with inventory management best practices and regulatory requirements.
- Analyse inventory data to identify trends, patterns, and areas for improvement.
Customer Service: Work closely with our sales and customer service teams to communicate delivery times, manage customer expectations, and swiftly resolve any issues that may arise.Conduct business development activities as required. Liaise between sales team and other internal/external stakeholders.Respond to client questions, queries, or other from clients.
Safety & Compliance: Champion a safety-first culture, ensuring all drivers and vehicles are compliant with road transport and workplace health and safety (WHS) regulations.
- Inventory Management: Managing and overseeing the company's inventory levels and ensuring efficient and accurate inventory control processes. Maintaining optimal inventory levels, minimizing stockouts, and maximizing inventory turnover. Develop and implement inventory control procedures and policies. Monitor inventory levels to ensure accuracy, adequacy, and timeliness of stock availability. Identify slow-moving or obsolete inventory and recommend appropriate action. Check POD's when required. Conduct regular stock audits and cycle counts to maintain inventory accuracy.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Proven experience as a Dispatch Manager, Logistics Manager, or in a similar role, ideally within the building supplies, landscape, or a related heavy transport industry.
- A strong understanding of logistics and transport management principles.
- Essential: Practical, day-to-day experience using a Warehouse Management System (WMS) or similar dispatch software.
- Strong Preference: Extensive and demonstrable experience with Cin7. Please highlight your proficiency in using its inventory, dispatch, and reporting modules.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Familiarity with local [e.g., Brisbane] road networks and transport regulations is highly desirable.
