Sydney/Sydney Eye Hospital is seeking an experienced and motivated Deputy Chief Radiographer to support the operational and clinical leadership of our high-performing Radiology Department. This is an exciting opportunity to take on a pivotal leadership position in one of Australia's leading centres for eye and hand care.

As Deputy Chief Radiographer, you will work closely with the Chief Radiographer to ensure the efficient, safe, and high-quality delivery of diagnostic imaging services. You will also play a key role in mentoring junior staff, driving service improvements, and supporting complex clinical imaging for our renowned Hand Unit, Emergency Department, and Eye Hospital specialties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Chief Radiographer in overseeing daily departmental operations,
  • Lead and supervise clinical staff to ensure imaging excellence and patient safety,
  • Provide advanced diagnostic imaging services,
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across hand, eye, and emergency care.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of protocols, policies, and quality improvement initiatives,
  • Assist in preparing the department for accreditation and compliance audits, ensuring alignment with national standards and best practice guidelines,
  • Coordinate training, orientation, and professional development for imaging staff.

Requirements:

  • Recognised qualification in Medical Radiation Science (Radiography).
  • Current registration with AHPRA.
  • Extensive clinical experience in a hospital imaging environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership capability and interest in service development.
  • Strong communication, organisational, and team-building skills.

Selection Criteria

To be considered for this position, please ensure you address the below questions as thoroughly as possible.

  • Bachelor Degree or higher of Medical Radiation Science
  • Possess Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency Registration, NSW Environment Protection Authority Radiation Licence, NSW Working With Children Check.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of current hospital-wide and Radiology specific Accreditation programs
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Work Health & Safety Numerical Profile.
  • Ability to work effectively within a mult-disciplinary team, prioritise workload and to apply advanced reasoning skills and independent professional judgement.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of of Radiology Information System and Picture Archiving and Communication Systems.
  • Demonstrated strong leadership skills to enhance staff performance, influence workplace culture, and lead change
  • Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills.
