Job Description – Deputy CRO

in1bank Ltd (the Bank: ) is an Australian owned local bank with a banking licence regulated by the Australian Prudential Regulation Authorities (APRA).

The key objective of the Bank is to be a leading and trusted digital-first bank with an initial focus on the Australian Chinese speaking retail and SME community. It provides a superior customer experience as well as a focus on delivering new value-creating products and services through digital and other customer-centric channels.

Deputy CRO– Job Description

The Deputy Chief Risk Officer (Deputy CRO) supports the Chief Risk Officer in overseeing the bank's risk management function, ensuring that all significant risks—including credit, market, operational, liquidity, reputational, and compliance risks—are identified, assessed, monitored, and effectively mitigated. This role is central to maintaining the bank's financial soundness, regulatory compliance, and strategic resilience.

The Deputy CRO will assist in leading the risk team, strengthening the risk culture, and may serve as acting CRO when required.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Risk Governance & Strategy

  • Support the CRO in implementing and maintaining a robust Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) framework.
  • Contribute to the formulation of the bank's risk appetite, risk limits, and tolerance levels in alignment with strategic goals.
  • Participate in key governance committees (e.g., Risk Committee, Credit Committee, ALCO).

2. Risk Oversight

  • Oversee day-to-day risk operations, including risk identification, assessment, measurement, and reporting.
  • Supervise risk teams across key risk areas:

  • Credit Risk: Oversight of lending portfolios, risk grading, provisioning.

  • Market Risk: Monitoring of interest rate, FX, and trading exposures.
  • Operational Risk: Identification of process failures, cyber risks, fraud risks.
  • Liquidity & Funding Risk: Monitoring cash flow positions, regulatory ratios
  • Regulatory & Compliance Risk: Ensure adherence to local and global regulatory standards (e.g., Basel III, IFRS 9, local central bank guidelines).

3. Risk system development and enhancement

  • As a start up bank, there is continuous requirement to review and strengthen the risk management system and processes. Your responsibility will include taking initiative, making recommendations and implementing improvements on an ongoing basis a

4. Risk Reporting & Communication

  • Lead preparation of risk dashboards and reports for executive management and board committees.
  • Ensure timely and accurate regulatory risk reporting

4. Leadership & Culture

  • Support and mentor risk professionals within the team.
  • Foster a proactive risk culture across the bank through training and awareness initiatives.
  • Act as a role model for ethical risk-taking and compliance.

5. Crisis Management & Stress Testing

  • Assist in running stress testing and scenario analysis exercises.
  • Participate in crisis response planning, business continuity planning, and risk escalation processes.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, Economics, Risk Management, or related field).
  • 10+ years of experience in banking, with at least 5 years in risk leadership roles.
  • Professional certifications such as CPA, CA are highly preferred.
  • Deep understanding of banking products, services, and risk exposures.
  • Familiarity with local and international banking regulations.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence at senior levels.
