Duxton Bees is a farmgate beekeeping Company. The primary objective of Duxton Bees is to operate a safe, sustainable and profitable Apiary operation. Duxton Bees intends to become one of the largest commercial beekeeping businesses in Australia, supporting agriculture through pollination services and honey production across different geographical locations within Australia.
The Role
We are on the hunt for a Land Manager to help lead and grow our regional beekeeping operations. This is a hands-on, people-focused role where you will build strong, lasting relationships with landowners, secure high-value apiary sites, and contribute directly to honey production and pollination success.
Key ResponsibilitiesLand and Logistics
- Build and maintain strategic land relationships to achieve honey production and beehive targets;
- Identify and secure high value apiary sites to support land portfolio growth and sustainable stocking rates;
- Develop and maintain a seasonal land plan aligned with the beekeeping growth plan, ensuring timely access to sites for wintering, pollination, and honey production;
- Manage all aspects of landowner relationships, including – establishing regular communication, promptly resolving concerns, maintaining an accurate database of contact details and organising seasonal honey gifts;
- Assist the GM with regional land opportunity data collection;
- Upload and map all sites in ARC GIS, maintaining Government site registration records;
- Facilitate contract renewal of all preferred land agreements within DB's operating region;
- Support the pollination brokerage unit with hive mapping and placement;
- Assess Government apiary sites for vehicle access and clear sites as required;
- Monitor beehives to determine honey/pollen activity and advise the GM If the beehives require relocation; and
- Relocate beehives into honey resource and pollination service when required.
Operational Effectiveness/Health and Safety
- Improve processes and planning aligned with the seasonal beekeeping plan;
- Ensure timely and accurate record keeping/reporting to support regional decision making;
- Map hazards and mark safe access routes to apiary sites on field maps:
- Manage the process of near miss/incident reporting and investigations internally and externally with landowners; and
- Manage SHE responsibilities using DB systems (e.g., injury & investigation reports) in line with DB policy and procedure.
About You
- Experience as a Land Manager (beekeeping knowledge essential);
- Proficient in using mapping and WHS programs, Microsoft office and IT systems;
- Strong organisation skills, initiative, and ability to influence;
- Advanced written and verbal communication;
- HC license (preferred);
- Australian Working Rights; and
- Ability to travel across NSW/QLD and spend time away from home on a regular basis.
