Senior Philanthropy Manager

OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

The Senior Philanthropy Manager is responsible for developing and implementing strategies that increase

philanthropic support for the School. As a key member of the Advancement and Communications team, this

role is responsible for managing all aspects of the School's fundraising efforts, including donor engagement,

major gifts, annual giving and planned giving.

Additionally, the Senior Philanthropy Manager is responsible for building and maintaining relationships with

alumni, parents, community leaders, and other key stakeholders.

This role is pivotal to building a positive culture of philanthropy amidst the School community, to support the

strategic goals of the Head of Barker College, Barker Foundation and Barker School Council.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES


• Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy to support the vision and strategy of

the Foundation Board and meet the School's fundraising goals.

  • Supporting and executing the fundraising strategy of the Foundation board.
  • Collaborate closely with the Head of Advancement and Communications, to develop fundraising

priorities and goals.

  • Manage all aspects of the school's fundraising efforts, including major gifts, annual giving, planned

giving, and capital campaigns.

  • Co-ordinating the School's fundraising efforts to align with the strategic priorities of the Barker

Foundation. This may include major giving, annual giving and planned giving.

  • Working alongside the Director of Alumni and Community Relations, identify and cultivate

relationships with potential donors, including alumni, parents, community leaders, and other key

stakeholders.

  • Oversee donor engagement and stewardship, including acknowledgment letters, donor recognition

events, and other cultivation activities, which may include occasional travel both domestic and

international.

  • Develop and maintain accurate donor records, reports and receipts.
  • Prepare financial and analytical reports as required.
  • Work with the Communications team to develop and implement fundraising-related communications

and marketing materials, including bespoke materials and events for identified segments of the

donor base.

  • Ensure compliance with ethical fundraising practices and relevant laws and regulations.
  • Champion the culture of philanthropy and communicate its importance across the wider School

community.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE ESSENTIAL TO THE JOB

  • At least 5 years of demonstrated experience in fundraising, with a proven track record of success in

major gifts, annual giving and planned giving.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Ability to think strategically and creatively about fundraising opportunities

People & Culture

  • Knowledge of fundraising best practices and relevant laws and regulations
