OUR ORGANISATION
Join Lifeline Australia and you will be helping to support the delivery of critical services ensuring that "no person in Australia has to face their toughest moments alone."
Lifeline Australia is a national suicide prevention charity providing all Australians experiencing emotional distress with access to 24-hour crisis support and suicide prevention services. We are committed to empowering Australians to be suicide-safe through connection, compassion and hope.
THE OPPORTUNITY
The Community Engagement Liaison Officer will lead Lifeline's efforts to connect with Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) communities across Australia, helping to build trusted relationships and ensure community perspectives inform Lifeline's Support Toolkit and wider services.
This role acts as the organisation's "ear on the ground," representing Lifeline at community spaces and events, generating actionable insights, and building relationships to expand Lifeline's reach and cultural responsiveness. This is a 12-month, fixed-term part time role (3 days / week - flexible days)
RESPONSIBILITIES
In this role, some of your duties will include:
Develop strong, trust-based relationships with CALD community groups, leaders, and organisations.
Attend community events, forums, and spaces to represent Lifeline and listen to lived experiences.
Champion Lifeline's Support Toolkit and services to CALD communities
Gather and synthesise community insights into actionable reports.
Theme and analyse feedback to identify key issues, barriers, and opportunities for CALD communities.
Provide recommendations to inform Lifeline's Support Toolkit roadmap and organisational strategy.
Develop a specialised service catalogue of trusted CALD support services.
Collaborate across Lifeline teams to embed CALD insights into broader initiatives.
ABOUT YOU
To be successful in this role, you will have:
3 - 5 years' experience working in a community engagement role; preferably with exposure to the not-for-profit sector.
Demonstrated experience in community engagement and development, ideally with CALD communities.
Experience generating and synthesising insights and preparing reports with actionable recommendations.
Strong facilitation and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage diverse community stakeholders.
Excellent communication skills, including cultural awareness and the ability to adapt to different contexts.
Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and deliver outcomes within a part-time schedule.
(Highly regarded but not essential) CALD background and/or lived experience of mental health challenges.
(Highly regarded but not essential) Knowledge of or experience in the mental health sector, suicide prevention, or wellbeing support.
All employees of Lifeline Australia must undergo a National Police Check.
