Position Overview

The Social Services Manager provides leadership of Roundabout Canberra's Social Services Program, ensuring safe, timely and effective delivery of material support for families through strong order management, proactive relationships with social service partners, and forward planning to meet community needs.

Reporting to the General Manager, the role oversees the Social Services Coordinator and Orders Assistant/s, and plays a key role in developing procedures, monitoring service quality, and maintaining Roundabout Canberra's reputation as a trusted partner in the community sector.

The Social Services Manager also works collaboratively with the warehouse, volunteer, community engagement and fundraising teams to ensure joined-up service delivery and strong organisational outcomes.

The role would be part-time (25-30hours per week)

This position may be appointed at Level 5 or Level 6 of the SCHADS Award depending on skills and experience. We are located in Holt - salary packaging is available, and free parking onsite.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight of the Social Services Program, ensuring efficient delivery of material support, effective order management and seamless logistics for our social service partners.
  • Build and maintain strong partnerships with social service partners, identifying opportunities to strengthen outcomes and community impact.
  • Monitor and evaluate service satisfaction, and implementing engagement strategies that drive continuous improvement and strengthen program effectiveness.
  • Lead the development, communication and maintenance of Roundabout Canberra's Inventory Safety Guidelines ensuring clarity and compliance across the organisation.
  • Ensure robust safety checking procedures for donated items, including identifying training needs for staff and volunteers.
  • Supervise, support and develop the Social Services Coordinator and Orders Assistant/s, cultivating and maintaining a positive and high-performing team.

  • Proven ability to lead a team and provide clear strategic direction in the community or related sectors
  • Demonstrated capacity to operate with a high degree of autonomy, make key operational decisions, and exercise sound judgement
  • Strong project management and planning skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish and maintain relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs and community organisations
  • Proven problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the capacity to address complex service delivery issues and implement workable solutions
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, confident engaging with internal and external stakeholders at all levels
  • Strong digital capability, including the use of CRM systems (ideally Salesforce), spreadsheets and shared systems
  • Experience working in the Non for Profit or community sector
