Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia Christou Consulting Group Full time $80,000 - $120,000 per year

Overview

Christou Consulting Group (CCG) provides strategic CFO services to a portfolio of Australian SMEs across construction, healthcare, logistics, and related industries. We are seeking a capable and detail-oriented
Senior Finance Professional
to support the Director in delivering high-quality financial reporting, analysis, and insights to clients.

This role is ideal for an experienced accountant or analyst who enjoys "hands-on" work—cleaning, transforming, and presenting data—while gaining exposure to strategic finance, performance analysis, and client advisory processes.

Key Responsibilities

1. Monthly Reporting and Pack Preparation

  • Receive core financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) from Xero and other sources.
  • Transform data into the CCG-branded
    Monthly CFO Pack
(PowerPoint format), ensuring accuracy, visual consistency, and meaningful commentary.
  • Reconcile key balances and highlight material movements or anomalies.
  • Maintain version control and archiving of monthly client reports.

2. Ad-Hoc Financial Analysis

  • Prepare supporting analysis upon request—e.g., margin breakdowns, cost-driver trends, WIP summaries, client-specific KPIs.
  • Use Excel and PowerPoint to communicate findings clearly and concisely.
  • Ensure all work is documented and repeatable for future automation or process improvement.

3. Forecasting, Budgeting & Insights

  • Assist in building or maintaining financial forecasts and budgets under guidance.
  • Perform sensitivity analysis and scenario modelling to support strategic decision-making.
  • Identify trends, risks, and opportunities within client data.

4. Stakeholder Engagement (as required)

  • Join selected client or third-party meetings with the Principal CFO to provide technical input or commentary on reports.
  • Prepare pre-meeting materials and assist with follow-up actions or data requests.

Key Attributes

  • Exceptional attention to detail and pride in presentation quality.
  • Strong analytical and Excel skills (advanced formulas, pivot tables, charts, etc.).
  • Working familiarity with Xero and confidence handling exports or reconciliations.
  • Strong PowerPoint skills—able to turn numbers into visually clean, professional packs.
  • Reliable, deadline-driven, and able to manage recurring workflows.
  • Curious, commercially minded, and eager to understand client performance drivers.

Experience & Qualifications

  • 5+ years in accounting, financial analysis, or management reporting.
  • Experience within SME or advisory environments highly regarded but not essential.
  • CPA/CA qualification (or progress towards) preferred but not essential.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Why Join CCG

  • Work directly with a senior Fractional CFO across a diverse client base.
  • Gain exposure to board-level reporting, strategy, and financial storytelling.
  • Flexible work arrangements (hours and location).
  • Opportunity to evolve the role into a client-facing or analytical leadership position as CCG scales.
