Fowler Homes, a respected leader in residential construction, is seeking a talented and motivated Draftsperson to join our team. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to a dynamic and growing company, working on a diverse range of residential projects in a collaborative and professional environment.

What you'll be doing

  • Develop and finalize detailed architectural drawings, including floor plans, elevations, sections, and site plans, in alignment with design specifications.
  • Create and modify standard home designs based on customer requests, site-specific requirements, and other customization needs, while maintaining build-ability and cost efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with local and national building codes, council regulations, and industry standards to maintain safety and compliance.
  • Work closely with external suppliers including but not limited to engineers, councils and certifiers, to ensure drawings reflect the project requirements and are feasible for construction.
  • Review site and survey data including analyzing site information, soil reports, and zoning data to address any constraints or adjustments needed in the design.
  • Revise and update drawings as per client requests, builder specifications or regulatory feedback and ensure that all documentation is up-to-date and accurate.
  • Prepare detailed construction documentation, including specifications, schedules, and detailed notes for builders and contractors.
  • Ensure quality control by reviewing all completed drawings and documentation for accuracy, clarity, and alignment with project objectives.
  • Utilize Revit software proficiently to produce high-quality, accurate drawings.
  • Utilize Onsite Companion (our workflow system) daily to action all allocated tasks and provide job updates.
  • Assist with Master drawings for all Fowler Homes designs as required.
  • Undertake standard construction detailing, standard product development and maintenance.

What we're looking for

  • Diploma or degree in architectural drafting, building design, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3-5 years experience in residential drafting, preferably with a project home builder or residential design firm.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, ArchiCAD, or similar software; familiarity with 3D modeling and rendering tools.
  • A minimum of 2 years' experience working with Revit is highly regarded.
  • Advanced computer skills in Microsoft office suite.
  • Strong knowledge of design standards and new home construction.
  • Strong understanding and working knowledge of the BCA, NCC, CDC and Local Authority DCPs.
