About the role
Stornoway is now accepting expressions of interest from applicants seeking a permanent full-time Works Coordinator position within our Cambridge Minor Works team.
The roles' primary function is to coordinate, lead, and undertake works to ensure Tasmania's applicable road networks are maintained to the highest standards. This role requires candidates with the ability and technical expertise to not only coordinate works and lead teams, but to undertake a variety of physical works associated with road maintenance.
These functions of the role include –
- Supervising work teams – can be multiple teams in multiple locations.
- Leading asphalt patching crews to ensure optimal productivity and quality of work is continuously achieved
- Scoping and planning of future work for crews
- Ensuring accurate records of materials used and work performed are maintained
- Overseeing the operation and maintenance of equipment.
- Attending and managing emergency events and reporting requirements
- Attending, coordinating, and managing out of hours events (when required).
- Hazard identification, risk management, and the development of Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS).
- The monitoring of environmental conditions and the programming of weather-related inspections
- Inspection and defect identification, data management, and the scheduling of rectification works
- Subcontractor management
- The inspection and audit of works (quality, safety, and environmental audits)
- Environmental maintenance
- Road maintenance
- Minor Civil & Drainage Works
- Traffic control
- Patrol works
- Shadow vehicle operations
- Mowing and vegetation works
- General labouring and more
About you
YYou will be safety focused and enjoy working outdoors in a role where no two days are the same. You will have experience leading field crews in their work and possess highly developed interpersonal, organisational, and communication skills. You will have comprehensive experience undertaking civil maintenance activities together with a sound knowledge and understanding of contract requirements and the application of specifications. You have the confidence and capability to coordinate the programming and planning of work and labour allocation, including cost allocation. You thrive in team environment that works together and shares common goals whilst taking great pride in a job well done.
To be considered for this role, applicants will need to be able to satisfy the following mandatory selection criteria (applicants who can also demonstrate the desirable criteria would be highly regarded):
- General Safety Induction White Card
- Flocon operation experience & roller, skid steer, and other relevant tickets.
- A Traffic Management / Control ticket compliant with current AustRoads standards
- Confidence and competence working with mobile digital devices and platforms
- Highly developed attention to detail, organisational, time management, and accuracy skills.
- Strong understanding of civil and safety principles and practices.
- Proven ability to manage multiple tasks / functions in a timely and accurate manner
- Demonstrated problem solving and decision-making skills
- Competent written and verbal communication skills
- A current Medium Rigid (MR) License
- A current First Aid and/or CPR ticket
- An Australian Resident or hold an Australian Working VISA with rights to work
Desirable criteria include:
- Previous experience in civil asset construction and/or maintenance
- Relevant other tickets such as chainsaw/pole saw
- Operate machinery such as; Skid-Steer, Excavator, Roller
- Sealed and unsealed pavement repair experience
- Heavy Combination (HC) or Multi Combination (MC) Licence
