About the Role
The Senior Project Manager role will be instrumental within our organisation being responsible for leading and managing significant projects from inception to completion, while concurrently contributing to the establishment and enhancement of the Project Management Office (PMO) governance framework. You will play a critical role in ensuring project success through meticulous management and strategic governance practices, directly contributing to the overall operational excellence and strategic goals of the organisation.
- Project Management and Delivery: Lead the planning, execution, monitoring, control, and closure of major projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
- Act as a primary point of contact for all project-related matters, effectively communicating project expectations and status to team members, stakeholders, and senior management.
- Implement project management best practices and methodologies to ensure efficient and effective project delivery.
- Identify, assess, and manage risks and issues, implementing corrective measures as necessary to mitigate project delays or cost overruns.
- Foster a collaborative project environment, encouraging teamwork, and utilising resources across the organisation for project execution.
- PMO Governance: Assist in the development and establishment of PMO policies, procedures, and standards to ensure consistent project management practices across the organisation.
- Contribute to the design and implementation of a governance framework that supports project selection, prioritisation, and resource allocation in alignment with organisational objectives.
- Facilitate the integration of project management tools and software to enhance project tracking and reporting capabilities.
- Lead the effort in establishing metrics and KPIs to measure the effectiveness and efficiency of project management activities and the PMO's impact on the organisation.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to project managers and team members, elevating project management competencies across the organisation.
- Strategic Alignment and Reporting: Ensure that all projects align with the strategic objectives of the organisation, effectively translating business strategy into actionable project initiatives.
- Prepare comprehensive project reports and presentations for senior management, highlighting progress, challenges, and strategic implications.
- Participate in strategic planning sessions, contributing insights from a project management perspective to inform decision-making and strategy development.
- Stakeholder Management and Communication: Develop and maintain strong relationships with all project stakeholders, including sponsors, business users, and external vendors, ensuring open and effective communication channels.
- Manage stakeholder expectations throughout the project lifecycle, negotiating and influencing outcomes in line with project and organisational goals.
About You
The successful applicant must possess the following qualifications, skills and experience:
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with both technical and non-technical thinking.
- In-depth knowledge of current and emerging project management methodologies.
- Demonstrated success in deploying an ERP solution.
- Strong organisational skills.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development.
- High ethical standards and integrity.
- Ability to effectively prioritise and execute tasks.
- Highly self-motivated.
- High attention to detail and accuracy of work.
- Team oriented, and skilled in working within a collaborative environment.
- Proven experience in deploying large scale projects across an international business.
- University degree in the field of Project Management, Information technology, Computer Science, or similar.
- MBA would be advantageous.
