About the role

Reporting to the Research & Foundation Manager, this role plays a pivotal part in advancing the RACGP's commitment to general practice research.

As Research Grants & Academic Programs Manager, you will manage the Foundation's portfolio of research grants, awards and scholarships - overseeing the full funding lifecycle from development to close-out. You'll coordinate funding rounds, ensure compliance and efficiency, and maintain strong engagement with researchers, universities and other partners.

You'll also contribute to the development of new grant programs and academic initiatives aligned to the RACGP's Research and Foundation Strategies, and support the translation of funded research into the College's policy, standards and advocacy work.

This is a hands-on role ideal for someone who enjoys working across systems and stakeholders to deliver impact and continuous improvement in research funding administration.

About you

You are an organised, proactive and detail-oriented professional who thrives in a role that balances process excellence with purpose-driven impact. You're comfortable managing multiple priorities and take pride in maintaining transparent, efficient and compliant systems.

To thrive in this role, you'll bring:

  • Experience coordinating or managing research grants, awards or scholarships.
  • Strong understanding of grant lifecycle processes, from application and assessment through to reporting and acquittal.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to coordinate review panels or assessment committees.
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills, with attention to accuracy and deadlines.
  • Proficiency with grants management systems (experience with SmartyGrants highly regarded).
  • Collaborative working style and confidence engaging with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate and guide collaborative work programs, ensuring timely, accurate outcomes and responsive, high-quality service to stakeholders.

Desirable: experience in a health or research environment (particularly general practice or primary care), familiarity with CRM systems, and a relevant tertiary qualification.
