About the Role

Based in Sydney and Melbourne in a newly created role, SMC is excited to introduce two vacancies for a Sales & Application Engineer, reporting to the Head of Sales in each respective State. You'll be the technical backbone of our sales team helping to bridge the gap between engineering, sales, and customer success. You'll work closely with internal teams, customers, and integration partners to understand application requirements, recommend tailored solutions, and ensure seamless implementation.

This is a customer-facing role where your deep product knowledge and hands-on training capabilities will empower both our sales team and our clients. A strong focus of the role will be to strengthen both customer application support and sales personnel support and training.

You'll lead technical consultations, product demonstrations, and training sessions, while identifying growth opportunities and supporting strategic accounts.

Key Responsibilities

· Promote and sell SMC products and solutions to new and existing customers.

· Provide technical consultation throughout the sales cycle.

· Understand customer applications and recommend appropriate solutions.

· Conduct product demonstrations and technical training.

· Support large or complex opportunity management with the commercial team.

· Maintain and develop technical knowledge across the sales team.

· Collaborate with the product management team to implement portfolio strategies.

What You'll Bring

·Trade qualification and/or engineering degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Mechatronics (mandatory).

· Minimum 5 years' experience in technical sales, ideally within automation or pneumatics.

· Strong understanding of industrial automation, pneumatics, and control systems.

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

· Proficiency in CRM tools and Microsoft Office Suite.

· Current Driver's Licence and willingness to travel.
