About the Role

As our Technical Baker, you'll be at the heart of our product innovation, taking concepts from the drawing board to commercial success. You'll work collaboratively across departments, bringing technical expertise and creative flair to develop exceptional bread products that delight our customers.

What You'll Do

Product Development (70%)

• Lead recipe formulation and bench trials from customer briefs
• Scale up production processes from concept to commercialization
• Maintain comprehensive test baking records and product specifications
• Manage our test kitchen operations and ingredient inventory
• Collaborate with Product, Marketing, and Procurement teams
• Present products to customers and showcase our capabilities
• Support line trials and ensure smooth ingredient changeovers

Technical Support & Training (10%)

• Conduct root cause analysis on product-related issues
• Train and develop production team members
• Support continuous improvement initiatives across production lines

Communication & Documentation (5%)

• Coordinate line trials with stakeholders
• Maintain specification change logs and communicate updates
• Document recipe changes and process improvements

Continuous Improvement & Safety (10%)

• Identify process improvement opportunities
• Ensure safe working environments and compliance with safety standards
• Monitor production floor operations for optimization potential

What We're Looking For

Essential Qualifications

• Certificate III in Baking or higher qualification
• Food Safety Handler Course certification
• Strong knowledge of HACCP, BRC, GMP, and industry safety standards

Experience Required

• 3-5 years commercial baking experience
• Proven track record in high-volume production environments
• Experience with artisan bread production and traditional baking methods
• Knowledge of commercial baking equipment and maintenance

Technical Expertise

• Deep understanding of baking science and ingredient functionality
• Expertise in recipe scaling and formulation adjustments
• Ability to interpret technical specifications and procedures
• Experience with inventory management and cost control
