The role of the ARC is to provide independent assurance and assistance to the Director-General on the risk, control and compliance frameworks and the department's external accountability responsibilities, as prescribed under the Financial Accountability Act 2009, the Financial Accountability Regulation 2019 and the Financial and Performance Management Standard

oversight of its responsibilities and operations.
Mandatory Requirement - Independence Criteria:
All members of the ARC must be independent and not an employee of the department, or any other Queensland state government entity.
Essential Criteria:
Members are collectively required to demonstrate the following skills and expertise:
· Thorough understanding of accounting and auditing standards.
· Strong leadership and stakeholder management.
· A high level of understanding of governance frameworks.
· A high level of understanding in the application of risk management frameworks.
· A high level of understanding in the application of internal control principles and processes.
· A thorough understanding of the core activities of the agency and the industry and environment in which it operates.
· A good working knowledge of Queensland public sector accountability.
· Ability to constructively challenge and question management practices and information provided through Committee meetings.
· A professional, ethical and engaging approach in fulfilling the duties of the role.
