AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we're the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain — and we're looking for talented people who want to help.
You'll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You'll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. And you'll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.
The Data Center Capacity Delivery Asia-Pacific Controls Deployment and Service (DCCD APAC CDS) team delivers and services the control systems which monitor and ensure the health of our data centers. APAC CDS' mission is to safely provide our customers with the unmatched reliability, security, and performance that AWS is known for. APAC CDS covers three core disciplines of controls deployments, projects, and service, with five additional supporting disciplines in colocated controls, systems, fleet, on-call support, and governance.
As Amazonians, we work in a competitive environment. Our customers are always beautifully, wonderfully dissatisfied. Being successful in our roles is not just about doing our jobs well, but also evolving and innovating. Change is the only constant, and applies to our customers, our roles, our team organization, our tools, and our mechanisms.
To be successful in this team, you will also have:
- Ability to thrive at the pace and scale of Amazon
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple competing priorities
- Ability and willingness to collaborate with peers around the globe, which may involve some participation in meetings at odd hours
- Ability and willingness to travel domestically or globally as and when needed
Controls Deployment & Service (CDS) Technicians support data center building automation systems, including Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS). In this role, you will deploy and service these critical systems to ensure optimal data center health and performance.
Your responsibilities include deploying new BMS or EPMS installations during data center construction, upgrading existing Amazon-owned or leased facilities, and implementing Amazon hardware in colocated environments. You'll also provide regional servicing expertise to our fleet or data centers in your region, and occasionally support global operations.
Success in this position requires effective collaboration with multiple Amazon teams, including Construction, Commissioning, Critical Projects, Data Center Operations, Procurement, Program Management, Design, and Engineering teams. You'll maintain strong vendor relationships that drive successful deployments and operations.
Key job responsibilities
- Deploy and maintain critical systems: Install, upgrade, and troubleshoot BMS and EPMS systems across multiple data centers, ensuring optimal performance through diagnostics, programming, and hardware maintenance.
- Execute technical projects: Manage installations from server provisioning to sensor calibration, supervise contractor work, and ensure all activities meet AWS safety and quality standards.
- Drive operational excellence: Provide commissioning support, conduct root cause analysis, create system documentation, and follow change management processes to maintain system integrity.
- Enable team success: Mentor facilities teams on system operations, collaborate with vendors on Factory Witnessed Tests, and recommend design improvements based on operational insights.
- Deliver reliable service: Respond to emergencies, manage on-call rotations, oversee service agreements, and prioritize work through ticketing systems to maintain data center availability.
A day in the life
- Join the cloud leader: AWS has the most proven operational and security expertise, and the business is innovating at a faster clip—especially in new areas such as Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence, the Internet of Things, Serverless Computing, and custom-designed processors and chips.
- Be at the nexus of action: Your involvement in data center delivery will be mission-critical to the successful deployment of our data centers. You won't just be observing from the sidelines; you'll be representing Amazon, building relationships across a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders.
- Build at scale: Build and operate infrastructure at an enormous scale, participating in Amazon's global presence.
- Your unique background will be an asset: At Amazon, our ability to innovate on behalf of our global customers and communities is dependent upon the skills, perspectives, and knowledge of people from all backgrounds.
- Continuous growth and learning: You may not be an expert in AWS when you join our company, but you will have support to become one. Benefit from direct access to industry-leading specialists, latest training materials, and courses to propel your career.
