About the role
We are seeking a part-time (O.8FTE) / fully remote Policy Officer to join our team at the Oral Health Association of Australia Ltd. In this key role, you will contribute to the development and implementation of policy initiatives that support the Association's strategic objectives and promote oral health in Australia.
What you'll be doing
- Researching and analysing policy issues relevant to the oral health industry
- Drafting policy submissions, reports, and other documents to advocate for the Association's policy positions
- Collaborating with stakeholders, including government agencies, professional bodies, and community groups, to gather input and build consensus on policy matters
- Monitoring changes in legislation, regulations, and industry trends that may impact the Association's policy agenda
- Providing policy advice and support to the Association's leadership team
- Assisting with the coordination and delivery of policy-related events and initiatives.
What we're looking for
- A relevant qualification and current Ahpra registration as an oral health practitioner
- Experience working in public policy, government relations, or healthcare policy, ideally within the oral hygiene or dental care sector
- Proven experience in policy development, analysis, and advocacy, preferably within the health or community services sector
- Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to synthesise complex information and present it effectively
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to tailor messages to different stakeholders
- Collaborative mindset and the ability to work effectively with a range of stakeholders
- Familiarity with the Australian policy and regulatory landscape, particularly in the oral health or healthcare industry.

Commencing on 1 July 2025, the Oral Health Association of Australia (OHAA) is the peak body that represents Oral Health Practitioners (OHPs), which include dental hygienists, dental therapists and oral health therapists. OHPs are registered dental practitioners with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra). OHAA provides leadership, collaboration and advocacy to enhance the profession and the oral health outcomes for the community. The OHAA as a representative body promotes growth and development of OHPs through the pursuit of excellence.
