The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) implements the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), which is one of the biggest social reforms in the country since Medicare. As an Agency, we support more than 600,000 participants with a significant and permanent disability, and the families and carers of those living with disability. For many Australians, this will be the first time they receive the disability support they need. The NDIA is designed to enhance the quality of life and increase economic and social participation for people with disability and will mean a peace of mind for every Australian.
A new role awaitsThe Financial Reporting & Control Branch supports the Agency in financial management and compliance with legislative and policy requirements.
The Financial Operations team is one of six teams within the branch and has an exciting opportunity for an EL1 Assistant Director Financial Operations to lead our team providing oversight of the Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Corporate Credit Cards managed under a Shared Services arrangement.
Where you can add valueThe EL1 Assistant Director Financial Operations is a leadership role responsible for providing control, planning, resource management, performance management and decision making for the team towards strategic and operational outcomes.
You will partner with teams within and external to the branch to provide general accounting and strategic financial advice.
Responsibilities of the role may include:
- Management and reporting of the Agency's Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Corporate Credit Cards.
- Working with our shared services provider to ensure timely payment of invoices to suppliers.
- Leading the planning, preparation, execution and monitoring of internal reporting activities.
- Leading the development of team operating procedures and user guides.
- Developing and presenting a range of written material of a financial and business nature, including correspondence, briefs, month-end financial reporting and analysis.
Our ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in a Finance Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Credit Card management role.
You exhibit strong leadership qualities, fostering a collaborative team experience with the ability to guide the team to achieve business outcomes across a broad range of finance activities.
You have strong communication skills and the capacity to quickly build strong, professional relationships and a positive experience across the NDIA and with external stakeholders.
You will be able to identify and implement business improvements strategies and risk identification and management.
Experience working in SAP is desirable.

While this role is ideally performed from Deakin - ACT, Geelong - VIC or Richmond - VIC, flexible working arrangements may be considered. We intend to fill this role in an ongoing capacity, however non-ongoing roles up to 12 months with the possibility of extension up to 2 years may be offered.
Successful candidates will be required to undergo a pre-employment National Police History check, Worker Screening check and/or Working with Children Check (where required) and provide evidence of Australian Citizenship.
