- This role will support the Director of Finance in implementing and overseeing all aspects of the Finance Department and identifying opportunities to increase revenue and maximize the profitability of the Hotel. Will support all activities performed by the Director of Finance, including but not limited to, understanding and driving financial performance, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting and month-end closing activities, coordinating and reviewing monthly financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Uniform System of Accounts and Hyatt policies and procedures. This role will ensure a smooth operation of all hotel finance activities in full compliance with the policy, regulatory, and contractual framework. The role will business partner with all hotel finance team members and the Leadership Committee team and supports the Director of Finance in developing excellent working relationships across a broad range of internal and external stakeholders, including Commercial, IT, Procurement/Purchasing, Operations, Shared Service Centers, Owners, and Asset Managers as well as Regional Operations Finance. In the absence of the Director of Finance, the Assistant Director of Finance will assume the responsibilities of the department lead.
**Responsibilities/Essential Functions**:
- Prepare and review journal entries, month-end reports cash flow, and reconciliations.
- Participate in monthly financial reviews and review preliminary financial statements with the Director of Finance.
- Review Payroll.
- Supervise Finance staff including coaching and counseling associates to reflect Hyatt service standards and procedures, training, and evaluating the performance of staff.
- Assist in overseeing hotel on-site Finance functions to ensure proper fiscal management, timely and accurate reporting and analysis for the hotel.
- This responsibility also includes hotel financial planning, budgeting, accounting, and cash management. Systems administration, G/L account reconciliations, budget preparations, inventories, monthly closings, internal audit, AML, general compliance, and full P&L responsibility. Assist with managing and ensuring SOX, GAAP, PCI, and USALI compliance.
- Assist with completing the year-end audit process. Review and approve all reconciliations and audit work papers.
- Participate in and respond to auditor requests to ensure total hotel compliance. Help prepare all monthly and annual financial statements.
- Investigate, review, and analyze the variance explanations, involving the department heads in this process. Take the initiative to manage troubleshooting for respective cost controls and revenue enhancement.
- Assist the Director of Finance with special reporting and analysis projects. Conduct or ensure all Training and Evaluations are completed as required by Hyatt.
- Coach and counsel employees to reflect Hyatt Service Standards and Procedures and the ability to manage and develop staff. Strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to effectively address any issue in collaboration with others as appropriate.
- Ability to proactively identify and prevent potential problems. Ability to help develop problem-solving skills among direct reports and other team members as appropriate.
- Ability to take initiative to identify, prioritize and implement all elements required for the team to fulfill responsibilities. Detail-oriented and organized.
- Ability to develop presentations and effectively present to all levels of the company, hotels, regional office & owners.
- Ability to analyze large volumes of complex financial information from many sources and create reports, forecasts, and projections. Complete various additional tasks and assignments as needed. - An accounting degree or certification is preferred.
- 4 years or more of progressive Accounting experience, preferably in a hotel. Experience supervising staff members is preferred.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills; Attention to detail.

- High level of accuracy and efficiency.
- Courteous, professional manner, strong customer service skills.
- Must comply with all company and financial regulations.
