Full-Time | 12-Month Contract | South West Queensland

Golden West Apprenticeships is seeking a dedicated Indigenous Support Officer to join our team and help drive improved participation, retention, and completion of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander apprentices and trainees across South West Queensland.

This newly created position will provide culturally informed, one-on-one mentoring and support to Indigenous apprentices and trainees, while also working with host employers to create and maintain culturally safe and inclusive workplaces. The role will actively engage Indigenous job seekers, connect with local communities, and help employers build their capability and confidence in recruiting and retaining Indigenous staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualised mentoring and culturally responsive support from recruitment through to completion.
  • Work with employers to create and maintain culturally safe workplaces.
  • Build strong connections with Indigenous communities to promote apprenticeship and traineeship opportunities.
  • Track and report on outcomes in line with funding requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with Recruitment and Training and Employment Coordinator teams to ensure coordinated support for Indigenous participants.

What We're Looking For:

  • Strong understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and communities.
  • Experience in mentoring, youth engagement, or employment services.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to travel across South West Queensland.
