Cyber Security Architect

Join our Downer Professional Services team and play a key role in delivering complex defence and national security projects that safeguard Australia's future.

Downer Professional Services is comprised of two business units, our Technical, Advisory, and Capability consulting practice and Team Downer , a major service partner to Defence. Together, we are a multi-disciplinary advisory and delivery partner of choice for our clients in Defence and National Security.

As the Cyber Security Architect , you will lead the development and delivery of a unified cyber security architecture for complex Air Command and Control systems, ensuring alignment with Defence and Australian Government standards. The position is based onsite at Campbell Park, Canberra.

What You'll Do

This role offers a broad scope, with key role responsibilities including:

• Design and deliver cyber security architecture and documentation to support certification and accreditation of Air C2 systems.
• Coordinate with stakeholders across Defence, RAAF, CIOG, and certification authorities to ensure alignment and compliance.
• Implement and apply security frameworks including PSPF, ISM, DSPF, NIST SP-800, and ISO 27000 series.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance across ICT and cyber security domains.
  Manage stakeholder expectations and ensure consistent security processes across delivery teams.

What You'll Bring

• Proven experience as a Security Architect in large-scale ICT projects with deep technical expertise.
• Strong knowledge of cyber security policies, standards, and frameworks.
• Advanced technical writing, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with Defence and industry stakeholders.
  Familiarity with Defence cyber worthiness concepts and architecture frameworks like DODAF, TOGAF, SABSA, or UAF.

Due to the nature of the work, you are required to currently hold and maintain a minimum Negative Vetting 1 or higher Security clearance as required by the Commonwealth. In some instances, compliance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) requirements may also be an inherent requirement.
