About your new Role:
In this key role, you'll help enhance our Risk Management Framework, promote a positive risk culture, provide expert advisory support, and deliver clear reporting to senior leadership and the Board:
- Team Leadership & Governance: Lead day-to-day management of enterprise risk activities, supervise and mentor three direct reports, contribute to planning and performance, and represent risk at Executive Committee meetings.
- Risk Management Framework: Oversee the ongoing review, development, and implementation of the Risk Management Framework, policies, and governance systems (e.g., Protecht) to ensure alignment with Brighter Super's risk profile.
- Risk Culture & Awareness: Champion and embed a positive, commercially aware risk culture through leadership, training, workshops, and high-quality reporting to Management and the Board.
- Risk Advisory & Incident Management: Deliver practical risk advice, support business initiatives, manage operational incidents, fraud matters, control testing, and the annual Risk Management Declaration process.
- Risk Reporting: Develop clear, insightful risk reports for senior leadership, highlighting key risks, trends, and the effectiveness of the control environment.
About You:
You are a self-driven and adaptable risk professional who demonstrates strong problem-solving abilities, a collaborative approach, and a commitment to acting with integrity:
- Experience: Five+ years' experience working in a risk role in the superannuation sector or financial services industry, or professional services industry (e.g., legal, consultancy, advisory, audit)
- Leadership: Some experience in either leading, training or mentoring others.
- Relationship Management – excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders
- Knowledge: Good working knowledge and understanding of the Australian financial services regulatory environment, particularly risk governance standards e.g. SPS 220, CPS 230 and ISO 31000.
- Qualification: Bachelor qualification in a relevant area, e.g., Laws, Business, Finance, Economics.
