What You'll Be Doing
Step into a role where your cultural insight, compassion, and expertise truly shape health outcomes for Aboriginal families. As an Aboriginal Health Worker / Practitioner – AMIHS, you will:
- Support Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander women through pregnancy and up to 8 weeks after birth, via home visits, clinic care, and community outreach
- Deliver education and care that is culturally safe, respectful, and empowering
- Collaborate with midwives, child and family health nurses, and other local health services to provide coordinated, wraparound care
- Participate in outreach clinics in Mungindi and Collarenebri, and contribute to specialist clinics supported by John Hunter Hospital
- Be part of a dedicated team improving health outcomes for mothers, babies, and families

Who You Are
- Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander, able to demonstrate status
- Hold a Certificate III in Aboriginal Primary Health Care (or relevant health qualification)
- Passionate about supporting women and families through pregnancy and early parenthood
- Culturally confident and committed to providing safe, respectful, patient-centred care
- Collaborative, professional, and able to work independently while contributing to a team
If you don't yet hold a Certificate IV in Aboriginal Primary Health Care (Practice), we will support you to achieve this through study leave and training.

Additional Information:
- - Based on a minimum 18-month commitment to the position or the agreed duration of your contract. All payments to part-time and contract employees will be made on a pro-rata basis in accordance with the terms of your contract, including any approved extensions. Please note: if your contract ends before the agreed completion date, you may be required to repay a portion of the incentive.
