Asbestest is redefining asbestos testing in Australia; we're bringing the lab straight to site so we can provide fast, client-focused reporting the same day of inspection

We're far from your average lab. Our fully equipped, mobile setup and tight-knit, ambitious team are changing how asbestos testing and compliance are done across SEQ. This is an exciting new business committed to achieving NATA accreditation (we're at the very last stages now) and the highest of industry standards

What does this role look like?

We're looking for a motivated Environmental Consultant / Lab Tech (open to either part-time or full-time basis), who is ready to hit the ground running. You will be joining a tight-knit, ambitious team to conduct onsite asbestos inspections and analysis in our fully equipped mobile lab. You'll play a key role in building strong foundations for the business through clear and professional communication with both clients and team members.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead asbestos inspections, sample collection and analysis aligned with AS 5370 and ISO 17025
  • Prepare documentation & reports to NATA-accredited standards (report templates provided)
  • Use tools like PLM, stereo microscopes & field sampling equipment
  • Stay current with asbestos-related regulations and drive compliance
  • Communicate clearly with clients, builders, and civilians onsite
  • Participate in internal training, team meetings, and contribute to growth

What You Bring:

Must-haves:

  • Experience in asbestos testing and handling
  • Tertiary qualification in Occupational Hygiene, Environmental Science, or similar
  • Experience in a NATA-accredited laboratory with familiarity with ISO 17025, AS 5370 (previously AS 4964) or ISO 22262
  • 3+ years of relevant field experience (asbestos-focused)
  • Satisfactory results from external Proficiency Testing within the last 2 years (PTA)
  • PLM & Stereo Microscope knowledge and experience (must)
  • Australian Driver's License (must - we're a mobile laboratory)
  • Strong time management and autonomy
  • Experience / knowledge of asbestos and how to identify it using a microscope (must)
  • Ability to positively lead a team as we grow (we want you and your role to grow with us)

Highly desirable:

  • Knowledge of SharePoint & Ascora
  • WHS tickets (e.g. Working at Heights, Asbestos Awareness)
