Location: Esperance, Western Australia

The South Coast Region extends 1,200 km from Denmark to the South Australian border and includes 14 national parks and 150 nature reserves covering 2.5 million hectares plus 7 million hectares of unallocated Crown land (UCL). National parks include Torndirrup, Porongurup, Stirling Range, Fitzgerald River, West Cape Howe, Gull Rock, Waychinicup, Stokes, Cape Le Grand, and Cape Arid.

The South Coast Region's key service deliverables include nature conservation, parks and visitor services and fire management.

We currently have an opportunity for an Operations Officer Marine to join the Esperance District team.

Under the general direction of the Marine Park Coordinator, you will:

  • Participate in the annual planning and prioritisation of the joint management plans for the development of annual work plans.
  • Plan and organise the implementation of operational plans, works and maintenance programs and operations for the Wudjari Marine Park, Mirning Marine Park and Western Bight Marine Park.
  • Coordinate and plan vessels, vehicles, equipment, contractors and materials to implement the works program.
  • Liaise, consult and communicate with Traditional Owners, community and stakeholders in relation to departmental works outcomes.
  • Undertake incident response activities including marine wildlife strandings, oil spills and wildfires.
