Tom's Confectionery Warehouse, a leading name in the confectionery industry, is seeking a part-time Student or bookkeeper to join our team. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop your accounting skills while contributing to a growing business. We are seeking someone who is looking for some permancy and a workplace to call home.

About the role:

As the student accountant or bookkeeper, you will be responsible for assisting with the financial operations of the business, including payroll, invoicing, and accounts management. You will work closely with the accounting team to ensure accurate financial reporting and smooth day-to-day operations. This role is ideal for someone looking to balance their studies with practical work experience in a supportive environment, or a person looking for flexible part-time work.

Key responsibilities:

  • Payroll and staff contracts: Assist with the preparation and processing of payroll for staff and the management of employment contracts.
  • Invoicing: Generate and send invoices to customers, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded and tracked.
  • Checking bills: Review and verify bills to ensure accuracy before processing for payment.
  • Suppliers and service providers payments and bookings: Coordinate payments and manage relationships with suppliers and service providers, ensuring bookings are completed on time.
  • Accounts reconciliations: Support the reconciliation of accounts, helping to maintain up-to-date financial records.
  • Product entry and price management: Assist with the entry of product details into the accounting system and help maintain accurate price records.
  • Reporting: Contribute to the preparation of financial reports, including monthly summaries and analysis for management review.

About you:

The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in accounting and a keen eye for detail. You will be studying accounting or have bookkeeping experience. Your organisational skills and ability to work efficiently will be key to thriving in this role.

Requirements:

  • Currently studying accounting (or have bookkeeping experience).
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (experience with Xero is an advantage)
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and a proactive attitude
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
