As SMS continues to expand, we are seeking an office-based Data Surveyor to join our South Australia team

Any given day may see you…

  • Perform computations and checks to create set-out data for SMS field staff.
  • Prepare 3D models for GPS machines and equipment.
  • Complete earthworks calculations for upcoming tenders.
  • Review and validate data collected by survey teams to ensure accuracy.
  • Assist surveyors with creating accurate drawings from field and survey data.
  • Prepare and maintain conformance reports to meet project, quality, and regulatory standards.
  • Liaise with Project Managers and Consultants to resolve design conflicts.
  • Produce required reports, plans, and documentation.
  • Maintain digital data and document control in line with company standards.
  • Ensure current revisions are utilised by liaising with Area and Project Managers.
  • Train junior staff in survey computations and digital data management.
  • Stay up to date with surveying technology and drafting software.
  • Present data for checking quantities and material usage when required.
  • Ensure GPS-guided equipment operates within required tolerances.
  • Provide technical support to surveying teams during fieldwork and data collection.
  • Attend toolbox meetings and occasionally lead them on behalf of the Area Manager.
  • Maintain equipment and vehicles to a high standard.
  • Submit signed dockets, daily timesheets, and updates via the online Schedule Tracker.
  • Perform other tasks as directed by the Area Manager.

Here's what we are looking for…

A person with survey experience that is wanting to become part of a new and developing team in emerging markets.

They must:

  • Hold relevant qualifications in either Survey, Spatial Science and/or Geometrics
  • Hold a Construction White Card
  • Valid Australian Driver's Licence
  • Minimum 5 years' experience as a Data Surveyor
  • Demonstrate exposure to using Total Stations is advantageous coupled with experience using GPS equipment and machine guidance technology.
  • Demonstrated ability in proactively building relationships with key stakeholders and team members.
  • Be outcomes focused and have the ability plan and keep organised.
  • Have a customer focused mindset.
  • An attitude that engages all individuals by way of clear communication and effective interaction.
