The Opportunity

Join the Sydney office of a well-regarded, global asset manager as their Senior Legal Counsel for a 3-4 month contract role. Reporting into the Head of Legal you will provide legally sound commercial advice to investment teams, covering a range of listed and unlisted asset classes.

This is an opportunity to be part of a supportive team of senior counsel performing a varied role in a leading asset manager, with hundreds of billions in AUM, and ambitious plans to further their growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • You will be involved in supporting the product development and distribution teams; providing legal advice throughout the product lifecycle, working on ETFs and unlisted funds as well as infrastructure funds.
  • Support investment teams in both the public and unlisted infrastructure markets.
  • Assisting with fund formation and restructures, drafting and reviewing offer documents, distribution agreements, custody agreements and trust deeds.
  • Negotiating a variety of commercial agreements such as third party supplier agreements to support the procurement team.
  • Providing assistance with regulatory change projects, and being involved in strategic corporate initiatives.

Ideal Candidate

  • Australian legal qualifications and ideally a current Australian practising certificate.
  • Senior lawyer, minimum 8 years PAE, with experience in asset management gained from time spent both inhouse and in private practice.
  • Strong commercial acumen, and the ability to collaborate well with staff at all levels in the business.
  • A solid relationship builder, with excellent communication and influencing skills
  • Solutions focused with the ability to innovate, and adapt.
