We are currently searching for an Assistant Accountant for to work within our Sydney Studio as part of our National Finance Department.

Please note this is a Parental Leave Replacement contract for up to 6 months, with potential for extension and is a Part-time role (3 days a week).

About the role:

The Assistant Accountant will provide assistance and support our National Finance Department covering areas from Financial/Management Accounting, Banking, Cashflows, Debtors, Fixed Asset Management, FBT and Accounts payable.

Responsible for:

Financial/Management Accounting

  • Prepare Monthly and End of year Accounts
  • Review, reconcile and report on Project & Branch Profit and loss
  • Reconcile all balance sheet accounts including subconsultants
  • Assist directors' salary and car allowance reconciliation
  • Prepare Monthly Business Activity Statements
  • Review & monitor all general ledger accounts ensuring correct cost allocations and GST compliance
  • Investigate and report to the manager with any inconsistencies and improprieties
  • Ad hoc reporting /financial analysis/projects/accounting/Tax etc.
  • Maintain Company and Trust registrations
  • Maintain directors file including directors' allowances, commencement, departure ASIC requirements and Unit/Share register
  • Complete ABS statistics
  • Maintain Qantas club membership

Banking, Cashflows and Debtors

  • Daily Bank Reconciliation
  • Manage periodical payments
  • Organise Bank Guarantees
  • Maintain Cashflow worksheet, ensuring cashflow is managed on ongoing basis
  • Review and report debtors and doubtful debts
  • Assist in managing debt collection process via timely reporting and closely liaising with all studios
  • Troubleshooting with billing invoices

Fixed Assets Management

  • Maintain Fixed Assets Register – allocation of fixed assets numbers, acquisition, disposals etc.
  • Review and monitor capital purchases ensuring correct items are capitalised
  • Perform End of Year Fixed Asset Review, Disposals, Reconciliations
  • Troubleshooting any fixed assets set ups, issues
  • Ad-hoc reporting / answering questions on fixed assets

Fringe Benefit Tax Return (FBT)

  • Prepare annual FBT return
  • Review all general ledger accounts ensuring FBT compliance

Accounts Payable

  • Process National Accounts Payable invoices
  • Monitor compliance on supplier tax Invoices, ABN, GST Registration
  • Updating new supplier EFT banking details
  • Problem solving all AP related issues including fortnightly EFTs
  • Ad-hoc AP queries / reports

Experience:

  • 1-3 years+ experience working in accounting roles
  • Deltek VantagePoint or similar ERP system experience a distinct advantage
  • Strong reconciliation skills in both accounting & information systems
  • Must have extremely strong MS Excel skills
  • Be a great team player & collaborator to develop positive relationships with team members
  • Be honest, reliable, meticulous, thorough and methodical
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to facilitate communicating honestly and clearly with respect other views and opinions of others on the team
  • Flexibility and adaptability – ability & willingness to acquire new skills with open-mindedness to new tasks and new challenges
  • Strong work ethic with positive attitude & conscientiousness
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage time effectively
  • Self-motivated with positive attitude & initiative
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Attention to detail while maintaining an understanding for bigger picture
  • Proactive approach to problem solving

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, more desirable if studying towards CA/CPA
