Your new role:
This role plays a vital part in the success of the First Nations Cancer Cohort Study (CanCo) — a long-term research initiative led by The University of Queensland in partnership with Cancer Alliance Queensland. Based within Metro South Hospital and Health Service, you'll coordinate participant recruitment, onboarding and data collection to support high-quality, culturally responsive research outcomes. Key Responsibilities
- Recruit and engage eligible participants (First Nations cancer patients and their caregivers) in line with ethical and research protocols.
- Conduct phone-based data collection and maintain accurate, secure study records.
- Manage document systems, scheduling, and participant remuneration.
- Maintain the integrity of research databases through regular data quality checks.
This is an identified vacancy with a genuine occupational requirement for the position to be filled by a candidate indigenous to the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Community. Candidates not meeting this criteria will not be considered.

- Identifies as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander (genuine occupational requirement under s25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 (Qld).
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
- Experience coordinating research or health-related projects (participant recruitment, data collection or database management).
- Understanding of research ethics, privacy and confidentiality.

About the First Nations Cancer Cohort Study
CanCo is a new study, led by The University of Queensland in partnership with Cancer Alliance Queensland (CAQ). This role is based within the Metro South Hospital and Health Service, Queensland Health.
The aim of the study is to establish a prospective and perpetual population-based cohort of First Nations Peoples diagnosed with cancer and their caregivers (CanCo), from diagnosis and throughout survivorship.
The Princess Alexandra Hospital (PAH) is a tertiary health care centre providing care in most major adult specialties. We provide world class health care to Brisbane City's southern suburbs across emergency, medical, mental health and surgical services, including liver and kidney transplant.
