About the Role
This role plays a pivotal part in the daily administrative organisation of both the Secondary School (Years 6–12) and the Primary School (K–Year 5), working closely with members of the Executive and other School leaders.
It requires exceptional organisational and communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with teaching and administrative staff across all levels. While primarily operational, the role also contributes to strategic decision-making and planning as part of the Executive Team.
This position requires critical thinking and a mindset for continual improvement, and models non-traditional thinking to achieve operational improvement. The Head of School Operations will inspire, guide, model, and lead excellence to develop a strong culture of student-centred operations, efficiency, risk management and agility.
The Head of School Operations supports and enhances the School's operational capacity and oversees the smooth running of day-to-day activities, including major school events. Responsibilities include calendar management, coordination of special events, oversight of operational procedures, and management of relief staff. Due to the nature of the role, flexible working hours are required, including duties outside regular school hours.
Responsibilities in relation to the position include, but are not limited to the following:
Leadership
- Member of the Executive Leadership Team
- Offers strategic and operational advice to the Principal and Executive Team
- Leads the School's Workplace Health & Safety Committee
- Leads cultural change focused on optimal utilisation of School resources for the benefit of students, staff and the community
- Explore ongoing improvement of contemporary learning spaces in collaboration with other key staff
- Contribute to the School's annual budgeting process, for operational matters and events
Operational Management
- Oversee the Relief Coordinators, Timetabler and the Student Information Reporting Officer
- Coordinate School policy reviews and manage compliance
- Manage and monitor all risk assessment processes and compliance
- Coordinate major events
- Organise scholarship testing schedules
- Create NAPLAN, OLNA, PISA, etc. schedules
- Create Secondary Assessment Calendar and examination and EST schedules
- Oversee Heads of House
- Create termly/yearly staff meeting schedules
Communications
- Be an exceptional communicator and have an open, collegial and collaborative style
- Promote and facilitate effective communication across K–Year 12
- Implement timely and effective communication strategies between the school and families
Other
- Be an expert at implementing operational improvement
- Have a comprehensive understanding of 'Duty of Care' and ensure that child safety is paramount in all that we do
- Participate in Executive Leadership Team strategic planning, policy development, calendar management, and communications
- Attend AngliSchools and school-based Senior Staff meetings
Skills/Requirements
- Bachelor of Education or equivalent degree with a Postgraduate Diploma in Education
- Current TRBWA registration and Working with Children Card
- Post Graduate Studies in Educational Leadership, or similar (desirable)
Experience and Knowledge
- Proven record as an outstanding educator
- Demonstrated understanding of operational requirements in a large K–12 school
- High technological literacy across various platforms
- Proficient in using both quantitative and qualitative data
