Plan the work with other tradespeople. Follow safety precautions during all phases of the work. Keep record of materials required such as steel/timber sizes. Fabricate, erect and install roof trusses. Prepare the roof for roofing iron including the laying of safety mesh and insulation including vapour barriers which are extremely important in the tropics. Installation of the metal roofing iron including the installation of sheet metal box guttering, rainwater sumps, downpipes, purpose made guttering and all types of flashing (weather proof coverings) as well as measuring, cutting, joining and laying the metal roof sheeting. Handle welding and carpentry materials, tools and equipment. Apply protective paint coating systems on joins, etc if required.
