We are seeking a highly skilled Senior DevOps Engineer to join a growing robotics startup that is building the future of human-device relationships with robotics. This pivotal role is responsible for designing and owning the developer tools and infrastructure that enable engineers to ship quickly and reliably, taking our products from early access to global scale.

About the role

As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you will be a part of the Platforms team, and be a central figure in optimising the entire engineering lifecycle. Your primary responsibility will be to architect, build, and maintain a suite of tools that dramatically accelerates the journey from a new idea to a production-ready feature. This includes creating and managing reproducible development environments, optimising CI/CD pipelines, and orchestrating simulations. Your goal is to establish a streamlined development process that is both fast and secure, enabling the team to innovate efficiently.

The team will rely on you to:

  • Design and maintain a suite of developer tools, including self-service environments and standardised templates.
  • Build and optimise CI/CD pipelines for embedded, device, and cloud systems, implementing caching, remote execution, and robust deployment strategies.
  • Develop and manage simulation infrastructure, orchestrating large-scale deterministic test runs.
  • Standardise hardware-in-the-loop and manufacturing test automation, integrating results into automated release gates.
  • Improve the release engineering process to make builds and deployments faster and more reliable, reducing flaky tests and improving feedback loops.
  • Streamline developer onboarding with one-command setups and up-to-date internal documentation.
  • Add observability to development workflows, using metrics to identify and address bottlenecks.
  • Embed security and compliance into CI workflows with automated checks and secrets management.

Ideally you have:

  • 5+ years of experience building developer tooling, CI/CD systems, or related infrastructure at scale.
  • Strong software engineering skills with production experience in Python and either C++ or Go.
  • Strong experience with reproducible build and environment management systems, such as Nix.
  • Hands-on experience with CI systems and build tools, including artifact repositories and remote caching.
  • Proven ability to improve delivery through metrics and experimentation.
  • Experience designing or operating simulation or hardware-in-the-loop infrastructure.
  • Strong collaboration skills to mentor peers and drive the adoption of new workflows.
  • Experience in both embedded/device and cloud environments.

Bonus points if you also have:

  • Experience deploying software to fleets of devices or edge devices with safe rollout controls.
  • Prior work building simulation infrastructure for autonomous systems at a company shipping at scale.
  • A deep background with Nix systems, going beyond basic use.
  • Experience in privacy-sensitive domains.
