About Us

Endometriosis is a common disease where tissue similar to the lining of the womb grows outside it in other parts of the body. Close to 1 million Australians are living with endometriosis, with the disease often starting in teenagers. Endometriosis Australia is Australia's Peak Body not-for-profit organisation supporting Australian women, girls and those assigned female at birth affected by endometriosis through advocacy, education, and research. Endometriosis Australia has been active for 12 years and has grown awareness of the disease through government relations campaigns, established a research grants scheme, and built a strong media profile thanks to support from philanthropic organisations, passionate donors and volunteers.

The Opportunity

Endometriosis Australia is establishing a 
Workplace Accreditation Program Advisory Committee

to advise on Australia's first comprehensive workplace accreditation framework for endometriosis awareness and support. This groundbreaking initiative will create standards and training programs that help Australian workplaces become more inclusive and supportive of employees living with endometriosis.

We are seeking expressions of interest from experienced
 
professionals who have a passion for creating meaningful change in workplace wellness and inclusion.

The Advisory Committee Role

Committee members will be responsible for providing advice to the management team on:

  • Utilise your network and connect EA with workplaces, People & Culture, and Human Resource leads
  • Provide guidance on how to efficiently scale the program during growth
  • General guidance and advice on implementing and growing workplace programs
  • Advising on implementation strategies across various industry sectors, including commercial sustainability
  • Contributing to policy development and best practice guidelines
  • Supporting the rollout and ongoing evaluation of the program

The committee will meet bi-monthly (initially virtual meetings) with additional working group sessions as required during the launch phase.

What We're Looking For

We would welcome expressions of interest from individuals with any of the following skills and experience:

  • Proven background in People and Culture or Human Resources roles
  • Fee-for-service accreditation programming, and experience in building revenue
  • Demonstrated experience in developing workplace compliance training programs
  • Knowledge of workplace health and safety legislation and compliance frameworks
  • Experience in adult learning principles and training design
  • Understanding of diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives in the workplace
  • Strong project management and stakeholder engagement skills

Highly desirable:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in HR, Learning & Development, or related fields
  • Professional membership with AHRI, AICD, or similar professional bodies
  • Experience working with not-for-profit organisations or health-focused initiatives
  • Knowledge of chronic illness management in workplace settings
  • Lived experience or deep understanding of endometriosis and its workplace impacts

Commitment and Support

This is a voluntary advisory role with an initial 2-year commitment. While the role is unpaid, reasonable and approved expenses, including those relating to travel, will be reimbursed. It is anticipate committee members will need to contribute 2-10 hours a month.

Committee members will have the opportunity to be part of a pioneering initiative that will set new standards for workplace support of employees with endometriosis across Australia.
