Our Client is a specialist mortgage and commercial litigation law firm, acting for clients across all Australian jurisdictions and in New Zealand. Representing private investment banks, private mortgage companies, lending trusts, private wealth clients, receivers, and loan managers, our Client provides specialist knowledge, advice, and legal services tailored to the finance industry.

About The Role
Our Client is seeking a Solicitor to join their mortgage recovery team in the Sydney CBD office. This is a full-time position.

Responsibilities Include

  • Providing specialist legal advice and expertise in banking, finance, and commercial litigation
  • Managing the day-to-day conduct of multiple files and workloads
  • Drafting documentation relevant to banking, finance, and insolvency matters
  • Attending court appearances and instructing counsel in all courts and jurisdictions
  • Drafting court documents including briefs to counsel, pleadings, affidavits, and applications
  • Conducting legal research and providing advice on mortgage law and regulatory requirements
  • Advising clients regularly on the status of their matters and recommending strategies
  • Identifying, developing, and implementing practical solutions to complex legal transactions and litigation to achieve client objectives
  • Assisting on mortgagee in possession sales

What They're Looking For

  • A Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or Juris Doctor (JD) degree, and admission to practice law in Australia
  • Minimum of 3 + years post-qualification experience in a legal environment, preferably in banking and finance and/or property or a related field
  • Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with clients and colleagues
  • A proactive, customer-focused approach and the ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Demonstrated experience in prioritising and managing multiple tasks
  • A keen interest in the banking and finance sector and the ability to manage a busy and challenging workload
