About the Opportunity
You will be joining a team of passionate modellers and analysts to design and develop bespoke economic and commercial models for our energy and climate clients. You'll work on cutting-edge projects that explore emerging value chains, assess commercial feasibility of new technologies, and support strategic decision-making across the energy transition.
You can expect to:
Contribute to the design and development of sophisticated economic and commercial models for policy and industry clients
Build detailed value chain models for emerging sectors including green metals, hydrogen and ammonia production, low carbon liquid fuels, and renewable supply chains
Conduct techno-economic analysis and commercial feasibility assessments for new energy technologies and projects
Support client engagements through analytical modelling, scenario analysis and sensitivity testing
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate technical, commercial and policy insights into comprehensive solutions
Present modelling outputs and insights to clients, translating complex analysis into actionable recommendations
Contribute to thought leadership and business development activities in emerging energy markets
The successful applicant will ideally be based in Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne. We welcome applications from candidates in other locations.
About the Team
The Deloitte Energy and Climate Advisory team works with businesses, governments, regulators and market institutions to help them navigate uncertainty and realise opportunities as the energy and climate landscape is transformed by new policies, technologies, decarbonisation goals and business models.
Our modelling team has developed innovative analytical frameworks across diverse energy and climate challenges, including:
Comprehensive value chain models for Australia's emerging green metals sector, assessing production costs and export competitiveness, and nature impacts
Detailed techno-economic models for green hydrogen and ammonia production, including integration with renewable energy systems
Commercial feasibility models for low carbon liquid fuel production and supply chain development in Australia and in Asia Pacific
Renewable energy supply chain models examining critical mineral requirements and manufacturing capacity constraints
Policy impact models assessing the effectiveness of government incentives and regulatory frameworks
Market development models for emerging energy technologies and business models

We are looking for analytical individuals with:
2-5 years of relevant experience in modelling, analysis, consulting, or related fields
Strong analytical and quantitative skills with experience in economic analysis, commercial modelling, or techno-economic modelling
Educational background in economics, finance, engineering, mathematics, or related quantitative field
Advanced Excel skills with experience building complex financial and economic models
Python programming capabilities for data analysis, modelling and automation
Commercial acumen with understanding of business economics, project finance principles, and market analysis
Problem-solving mindset with ability to break down complex challenges and develop innovative analytical solutions
Communication skills to present complex modelling outputs clearly to diverse audiences
Collaborative approach with enthusiasm for working in multidisciplinary teams
Experience in energy markets, infrastructure economics, or emerging technology assessment would be highly valued but is not essential.
