Hancock Energy has a Max Term opportunity until 2028 for a Senior Project Engineer to join a growing team supporting onshore oil and gas projects throughout Western Australia.

This opportunity is within the Projects team based onshore in West Perth. The Senior Project Engineer is responsible for coordinating activities associated with the engineering and design process and activities of a significant Gas Project, including FEED, detailed engineering, construction support, commissioning and start up into operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide support to the engineering manager in the implementation of the FEED/ Design Contractor deliverables
• Coordinate with the project's quality team internal audits and continuous improvement initiatives to safeguard compliance, reduce risk and drive performance excellence.
• Coordinate project packages and interfacing engineering risk controls
• Monitor engineering progress costs against budget
• Analyse and recommend corrective necessary actions to meet project deliverables.
• Support in the development of design methods and provide engineering support for construction, commissioning and operations
• Ensure defined business outcomes are achieved. (Project Leadership / Engineering & Design Management).
• Coordination of all preliminary and detailed design & engineering for construction to ensure the project meet functional needs, and process plant requirements.
• Provide support in the development and coordination of project engineering related scope including the implementation of associated specifications, HAZOPs, HAZID, Model reviews and other key engineering project requirements.
• Support the engineering manager with project engineering resourcing (internal and external) for effective timely delivery.
• Provide input in selection of projects procurement strategy, selection of suitable contractors to award project contracts and work packages.
• Provide support in the compilation of the technical specifications, SOW documents within the contract tenders.
• Provide technical input in tender evaluation to drive optimum value and performance basis.
• Conformance to established "good industry" engineering practices.
• Coordinate with contractors, other project vendors and services suppliers
• Coordinate with the project controls group activities including cost and schedule reporting as well as review and approval of invoices, negotiation of fees and contract sums (in conjunction with project procurement specialists)
• Maintain effective engineering document control process and management within the engineering team
• Provide where possible cost-effective delivery options within the approved project framework
• Support the coordination of a project risk register and associated mitigation strategies
• As part of the Project Delivery Team, effectively and efficiently coordinate project engineering development and delivery by controlling Capex project costs versus budget and monthly reporting and identifying opportunities for cost minimisation that value add

To be successful in this role, you will need:

• Minimum of 10 years engineering experience, preferably including major Oil and Gas Projects.
• Extensive knowledge of the engineering industry and Australian Standards and specifications
• Design Skills and knowledge
• Knowledge of engineering science and technology
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to exercise mature judgement
• Expert knowledge of Australian standards and industry codes
• MS Project and/or Primavera
• Strong analytical skills
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Self-confidence, assertiveness, and decisiveness are important
• Good knowledge of engineering management and application to major projects
• Team player, flexible and adaptable to changing needs and demands
• Motivated and driven, good time management and adherence to agreed schedules and timeframes
• High attention to detail.
• A strong work ethic, self-starter and ability to relate well to both work colleagues within a team environment and external parties.
