At Narrabri High School the staff proudly serve a vibrant and diverse community of 430 students nestled along the beautiful Namoi River on Gamillaray country in North Western New South Wales. The student body reflects a wide range of aspirations and post-school pathways, including traineeships, apprenticeships, employment, and further education. The school also hosts a Support Unit, ensuring every student has the opportunity to thrive. Approximately 40% of the students identify as having an Aboriginal background, with a significant connection to the Kamilaroi people, which enriches the school culture and fosters a strong appreciation for local heritage.
The staff are dedicated to fostering a culture of continuous improvement in classroom practices, recognising that professional learning is essential to this mission. Through enhanced data analysis, they aim to elevate literacy and numeracy levels, enabling them to provide explicit, individualised, and differentiated learning experiences tailored to each student's needs. Their commitment to improvement is guided by a thorough self-assessment process and meaningful consultation with the Narrabri High School community. The school aims to empower each student with the knowledge and skills needed to succeed, embracing the belief that indeed, knowledge is power.
Selection Criteria- Approval to teach 7-10 Science.
- Ability to plan, program, and deliver engaging and differentiated Science lessons that cater to diverse student needs and abilities.
- Ability to create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation, motivation, and success.
- Ability to build positive relationships with teachers, students, parents and the community through interpersonal, communication and organisation skills.
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
